Here's the second layout... Same, only Different.
I stuck with the Offbeat by BasicGrey since I had it out, and they are the same event. I loved using the sticker sheet that came with the papers. Those aren't something I used to buy or use a lot of but they come in the collections and I tell you what, If I were in need of buying anything, I'd be buying more embellishment sticker sheets... they sure make a pages easy and fun!

This here layout has been waiting to be finished for months, literally months. It has been collecting dust (no kidding) and now that I have to pack up my scrap room to move, I finally finished it. I even managed to finish another layout that I'll post soon!
I used Offbeat by BasicGrey, and 9 photos, yes NINE photos, go me! (though I have to admit I haven't put a date on it because it's not on the pictures since I printed them myself (years ago) and was too lazy to go up to my computer and figure it out)
It seems quite appropriate to share these layouts now, the photos from both are from San Diego... which is where I am at now. Of course today will be no picnic, it's set-up day. We just turn on the the music and get to work so we can go crash at the hotel. We are staying a couple of extra days to rest, relax and squeeze in a field trip for school (wink wink!)

My time in front of the computer is about as limited as my time at my scrapbook table... but I am not going to let that stop me. I am sure that I am not the only one juggling 42 things with little free time for scrappbooking. This layout is really fast, with lots of photos... I think even I may have time to lift this one:)
We went up Provo canyon a couple weeks ago. It was barely warm enough, but as it starts to warm up, I just cannot wait to get up into the mountains! We ended up only being up there for about an hour. After our little picnic a certain cute boy needed to go potty and the restrooms were not yet open for the season.
This layout is another check in the "for" check box of digital scrapping. There is no way I could make this layout traditionally without planning ahead and getting small pictures printed, not that I couldn't and I am going to try to remember to make some smaller photos the next time I'm printing pictures so i can make this, I really do like it!
Normally I retouch and crop my photos so the make a really nice 4"x6" or bigger... if I were to cut them down to 2" I would certainly exclude some important details. Now, back in the day of film that would be a whole different story, I had a bazillion pictures that could have been cut to 2" and still had too much open space :) Glory hallelujah for Digital Cameras!
I have an action in Photoshop that I created to make anything look like sanded chipboard... which is what I tend to use on my digital titles instead of buying alphabets, then I can use any font I want. You know, now that I think about, maybe being able to use any font I want just makes it harder, I tend to do better making something good out of a few things rather than having endless choices...
I've got LOTS to do today... so this is just going to be a short and sweet post.

Happy Belated St. Patrick's Day! <---this color of green is even called clover!
I really don't have issues with St. Patrick's Day, in fact I didn't even realize it was St. Patrick's day until 10:00pm Tuesday night when Amelia wanted to run out to find some green pants...(Jim was SuperDad and took her out) I feel like I should have posted some fancy green layout or something... but a day late just wouldn't be the same. So, I'll just apologize and promise that I will try to be more thoughtful of holidays in the future:)
I don't think I would have called it "stuck in a rut" at the time, but looking back, I think I may have been. These poor flowers, as cute as they are, may have been used and abused just a bit to often. I could probably throw 5 more layouts up here using these flowers... and I'm sure I'll use them again in the future, but I am certainly glad to be trying some new things these days.
I always called them my "Elsie Flannigan flowers" when I taught them in class... they reminded me of her work back in the day. And they really are super easy. On the backside of the paper, I draw a circle slightly smaller than the flower will be, then draw smaller circles around it for the petals. That makes a basic flower, then I just experimented with different shapes and number of petals and cut centers.
Speaking of Elsie, have you visited her blog lately? She's always got eye candy for everyone...

Hehe, I be you didn't know I am 251 years old! Actually I was 26 (and forever will be) but my cutest-ever kids used a 2,5 and a 1 candle... somehow the math adds up :) And I know you wish you got a HOME-MADE piñata for your birthday!
That layout is perfect for events with lots-o-pictures, like bad hair days, Christmas and piñatas! You can really pack the 3"x3" photos on there!
The second layout is the kind of layout I do when I'm flipping through photo albums (as opposed to scrapbooks) and feeling sad about how the time with my babies has gone so darn fast! No matter what period in my life I am in, it always seems like I'm so busy... but then 5 years later looking back I wish I could go back to when I had nothing but time.
(I would be EXTREMELY ungrateful if I did not take the time to mention that right now, my life is bliss... I get to hug and kiss my monkeys all day, cook dinner, do dishes and scrapbook with no pressing deadlines and creative mountains to climb. I won't have to look back at this time and wish I'd done things differently so I could have been there for my kids... not that I won't want to go back and do it all over again, but I won't regret not being there.)
My kids are romping carefree in the yard. No school, errands, or laundry to do...okay there was laundry... but that isn't what comes to mind when I look at these pictures. I remember Josh's Fuzzy little head and Amelias dirty knees. I can smell the yard in the warm summer sun... and how frustrated I was that it was such a mess... but geez, at least my kids HAD a yard!
Isn't it funny/ironic/frustrating to know how good we've had it and didn't even know it... alright... I still wouldn't want the fixer upper house... but the yard I could totally live with! We had peach, cherry, apple and plum trees, not to mention grape arbors and bazillions of roses.
If I knew then what I know now...
Do you remember about 6-7 years ago when EVERY layout had "Believe" "Dream" and "Explore" on it. Oh and don't forget "Discover"? I hate to admit I didn't make this layout 6-7 years ago, I made it a month or so ago... BUT I CAN EXPLAIN!
You see, words are not my talent. Witty titles and clever journaling, are not things that come naturally... if at all. But in the photos on this layout, they are ACTUALLY EXPLORING! So it's okay right...?
The kids are EXPLORING my sisters backyard, the most amazing "backyard". She lives in a condo with a river running through the back, as in 15 feet from her back door...as in she can hear a lovely "gentle meandering" water sound... ALL THE TIME!
About 4 years ago I EXPLORED (heehee) the Parade of Homes for the first time. I'd never been before and didn't really "get it" My mom and a friend were coming up to go and invited me to come along...
Okay, let me paint a picture of one of the "houses". Three floors, three kitchens (including one in the master bedroom) three sets of washers and dryers (including one in the master bedroom) Probably a bazillion bathrooms, a theater... not to be confused with the Sports bar which had 5 TV's including one in the floor... You catch my drift right? Now, I know what you're thinking, cause I was thinking it too... "Can you imagine what it would take to keep this place clean!" (Not to mention I could lose my kids and not see them for a week in it... maybe they're hiding in the indoor basketball court or ballet studio?)
ANYWAY... the pièce de résistance was the pool. The house has three floors, each with a patio or deck that leads out to the INDOOR pool. Each patio or deck has at least one set of beautiful deck furniture, TV, and a grill. And don't forget the hot tub and fireplace on both the pool deck and in the master bedroom... Now why would I consider selling a kidney to be able to live here? (Ha, as if a kidney is would fetch enough to afford this behemoth...)
In a word... WATERFALL. Yes the indoor pool had a waterfall. You could leave the doors to the house, including the master bedroom open (never having to know what the REAL weather was like in the REAL world) and hear a waterfall from anywhere in the house. Taking a bath, making dinner, doing homework... all to the most beautiful sound on earth... a waterfall. Be still my heart...
It's a good thing I don't have an extra 5 Million bucks and I am way too chicken to give up a kidney...
