I could live at the Farmer's Market...

This is Corbin Baldwin...

He rides his piano to the farmer's market on his bicycle every Saturday. Actually he and Eric Rich do. They ride together then take turns playing there. My sister and I happened upon the "Pianobike" when Corbin was playing.

Not only is a "Pianobike" a spectacle in and of itself, and not only is Corbin is a fun guy to watch... but this guy can play a piano! Corbin is 20, classically trained and playing since he was 5 YEARS OLD!

I found this article in a local paper when I was searching for their blog...

Here are a couple more shots from the Farmers Market... I love the Farmer's Market, I love the people that are there, I love the colors and sounds... I love, love, love that people are buying fresh food, crafts and goods from other people. It feels like community, love and peace on earth... 

Seriously, the peach I ate and the Mint Lime-ade I shared with my sister were pure summer perfection!

I was checking out the Allister Ann Blog because Elsie Flannigan linked to it on her blog... and I saw this picture. The post was about a newly decorated home and studio space (and we all know I am a sucker for a cool studio)... it included this picture of Dan Layus.

In my mind, the fact that I recognize him and know his name and of course the band he's in... must mean I am not as old as I feel some days, in fact I'd say it makes me pretty hip. (I wonder if using the word "hip" makes me old, maybe I should say something more like "the bomb-diggity")

Anyway... Dan Layus, Augustana...I saw them a couple years ago in Salt Lake City at a record shop and in concert later that night, they are one of my Flav-o-rite bands.

Apparently Allister Ann knows Augustana, cause there were lots more where that came from!

Just Made My Day.

Sounds like they've been working on a new album, though there's no mention of it on the website. But... you do know, a new album means a tour... and sometimes that means Salt Lake. I am gonna cross my fingers, eyes and toes and hope the rumor is true!

 

Boy does this bring back memories...

I sure do remember the day I first laid eyes and ears on Augustana. I went to a local record store where they were playing to promote a new album. It was just a small store, a small stage and I could have stood there and listened forever. After the gig at the record store my friend and I hurried to the venue where they were playing that night to make sure we could get tickets... I have to say I think that was one of my favorite concerts of all time. It wasn't a huge spectacle, just some guys with guitars (well, and drums, bass and piano) man are they good... one of my all time favorite bands.

This is kinda what it was like... only better

"Fire" is my absolute favorite Augustana song, those I don't think there is a single one I don't like..."Dust" is another favorite...you'd really be doing yourself a favor to check them out. 

And once again ladies and gentlemen... Jack Johnson!

Did I mention he's coming to Salt lake City in August.... YAY!

I do, as a side note have other musical interests... many in fact. Maybe I'll share some more with you sometime.

Same, Only Different.

Same show... Different weekend.

Pardon my absence for the next few days. This weekend is the Scrapbook USA Expo in Sandy Utah.

We do this show twice a year... though I think this will be the last (not an entirely unhappy thought:))
